Hungry Trout on the Big Hole
As water temperatures begin to rise after a cold winter, hungry trout feed on smaller fish and early season bugs such as Skwala Stoneflies and the Mother’s Day Caddis.
One the Big Hole River’s most famous hatches, the Mother’s Day Caddis is a heavy, prolific hatch. The hatch begins in early May. Clouds of caddis hatch from the river as the river swells with meltwater.
